PROPOSAL FOR PORTFOLIO
INTRODUCTION
For this final semester we have been allowed to decide what topics to photograph in order to produce a portfolio by the end of the year. Not only do we have to produce the photographs but we also need to produce a business card and a website for our business.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF PHOTOGRAPHS
A. Portraits of pregnant models
B. Lake Eyre landscapes
C. Portraits
D. Composites
DETAILS
A. PREGNANCY PORTRAITS
Vanity Fair want to revisit their front cover of August 1991 when Annie Leibovich’s photo of the very pregnant Demi Moore appeared on its cover. It is 20 years since that photo shocked readers.
This is to include a comprehensive study of at least 6 pregnant women photographed in the modern way and presented as A3 black and white photographs as well as in magazine form.
These photographs will reflect the influence of the photo of mother-to-be Demi Moore by Annie Leibovich which featured on the cover of Vanity Fair in August 1991.
The actual photographs: I intend to take these photos mainly at the mother-to-be’s home and will take along a make-shift studio with black and white material backing if the surrounds are not suitable for every shot. I will use natural lighting when available with reflectors and add studio lighting if needed.
I shall start photographing the model fully clothed and if she is happy to remove some clothing then I shall take some more fleshy photographs. I shall be concentrating on curves and shape.

B. LLAKE EYRE DICTRICT PHOTOGRAPHS
Travel Eyre by Air has requested 10 to 15 photographs of the Lake Eyre district in flood. These are to be both landscapes and details of the landscape. These are to be presented in at least A3 size
This will involve a trip to Lake Eyre to take aerial and normal landscape photographs. As well there will be some detail shots of the landscape. Although late in the season of the big floods inland, there will still be areas of water filled tributaries and wildlife. The aerials are to be textured patterns in the style of Richard Woldendorp.

C. PORTRAITS
Portraits of Canberrans. Six portraits are to be created keeping in mind the David Hocking way of doing them. These will be A3 in size.
I am hoping to make these in the David Hockney style . I thought I might concentrate on older citizens who were born and bred in Canberra and who have mainly retired. The photographs will reflect their interests in life after retirement. Hockney’s photographs were small polaroids. Mine will be digital.
D. COMPOSITESComposites. Six composites are to be created of various types reflecting Julia Fullerton-Batten’s work. These also will be A3.
Julia Fullerton-Batten is a well known photographer who produces work in a dreamlike surreal way. She had an exhibition in 2008 called ‘In between’. With each image she had an interesting calm background (shot indoors) into which she introduced an awkward wind-swept person in motion. Hence this will involve some architectural photographs for the backgrounds and some studio work for the in-motion models, although these photos may not necessarily be in the studio. Jumping on a trampoline might just be perfect to obtain the movement.
